Jean Ewen is a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist whose world took root in the late 90s, shaped by skateboarding, hip-hop, and graffiti culture. That era sparked his passion for lettering, which would become the heart of his work: calligraphy, which he explores and reinvents in every form.
Born into a family of craftsmen and the son of a designer, he grew up on job sites, where he developed an intimate knowledge of materials and hands-on craftsmanship. After three years in San Francisco, immersed in American skate and hip-hop culture, he returned to France with a creative vision enriched by these crossed influences.
Specializing in engraving, he works primarily with leather, metal, and glass, hand-shaping each piece to create one-of-a-kind works that sit between artisanal tradition and contemporary design. His work has led him to collaborate with major brands (BMW, Adidas, Stanley, DB Journey, Clarks) and to perform at private events and product launches, where he offers live engraving performances and bespoke personalization.
Passionate about materials in all their forms, he continues to bridge fine craftsmanship and design to create objects that tell a story.
